glyphosate
I had a whole half hour to myself yeterday and obviously used it to garden,I decided to spray glyphosate on the profusion of spanish bluebells we inherited, i was careful but I just read don't spray it near roses. I have loads of roses near the bluebells but I'm fairly sure no spray went on the leaves, am I safe? I just wanted to weaken the damn things, I managed to dig 3 out but most are so deep I've no chance

It kills anything green that it touches - tho some horrid weeds will need a 2nd and even a 3rd application.
Roses are particularly susceptible to the effects of weed killer, you're right. However, as said, it's a contact killer (and inert once it hits the soil so you should be ok.
H-C
If you used a hardware store pre-mixed product, the chances are your roses will be OK unless they got a good misting.
For the bluebells though, they will need a several shots and it's probably too late for this year as the foliage will soon naturally become dormant, die off and not absorb the weekiller very.
A trench shovel is great for removing them as the blode is much longer, narrower and more efficient at breaking through soil and reaching depths than ordinary garden spades.
thanks all, fairly sure it dodn't touch roses. I genuinely ended up in a&e last year after a digging session trying to remove bluebells, this year there seems to be even more, they look nice but I adore English bluebells and don't want to think I'm contributing to their demise, also I have such small gardens, there are lots of things I'd rather have!! thanks for advice on shovel, I'll have a look for one,
