Identifications (lots of!!)

Hi there!

This is my first post - so a very short /probably long introduction (as I'm a sucker for a back story). I have a background in Animal conservation but after starting a family ((I'd just met my now husband and made the choice to stay close to him rather than move down south to do my masters...)) I have forgotten most - if not all- of what I was taugh. Im very happy with my choice as I now have 2 very lovely children under 2, the newest of which is 2 months old - since my first, I have gone wild with wanting to nurture and grow everything (hense the small age gap!) So rather than adding another wild child to my house i have turned my attention to gardening.

I know a very small amount about plants - some leftover from my degree and some that I have picked up over time. We have just bought our first house and this is going to be our first summer here where I can do whatever i want to my very first garden - so I have caught the gardening buzz!

We bought a new build which has a reasonable garden space - big enough to handle with two little'uns- and lucky enough to be south facing with nothing but fields behind the garden.  It has one long raised bed against the back wall which was planted up by the builders who stuck plants in soil without knowing what they where or how they would grow..  so we took everything out and put everything back in so it looked better and then we also cut out flower borders in the lawn to add more interest as i am also landscaping the garden to add sections the garden (play area, allotment and "grown up area"). my inlaws came with a car full of things dug up from their garden for us to plant in and some potted plants we already had from previous rented houses went in to the borders too.

so although i am waaaay from finished , i have enough in the garden to enjoy what I'm looking.

The problem i have now, is that the plants we got from inlaws and the plants that were already in - I have no idea what they are and how to look after them properly..  everything is looking really well so I don't think full sun is bothering any plants, but the frost has got some. so as I'm new to plants - I figured the best place to start is learn everything I can about what's in my own garden first!

sooo this is where you come in.. can you help me identify these plants?? (There are a few, Mind)

I am trying to do this on my phone - so I will follow up with pictures in the comments!

Plant 3 Astilbe,  flowers late summer and likes damp soil and a bit of shade.

Plant 4 Choisya ,  often gives a second flush of flowers later.
