I think it was Dactylorhiza fuchsii the common spotted orchid. Beautiful to look at but pretty fussy as to conditions it needs. I have lost several, but I still persist in trying.
I have a Marsh orchid that I acquired as a stowaway in pot of something else bought for my bog garden. I left it where it was and planted the lot together and last year it came up again and flowered and it has returned again this year too. I am hoping it will like where it is enough to seed - they need to build a symbiotic relationship with their neighbours or something like that, I believe. Hard just to introduce.
I have some fragrant orchids growing in the garden. I rescued a few from the work carpark before it was resurfaced. There still loads in the yard and around the edges of the carpark though. A great sight! And especially looking forward to seeing if the ones outside the office side door bloom!
Couldn't resist showing off my dactylorhiza. They are doing really well. Sadly, though, mine are not fragrant. can anyone tell me the name of the fragrant ones please?
