Bay tree

Julie168Julie168 Posts: 24

Hi there, I have had a bay tree for many years without any problems. This year it started to have new growth then died off. I repotted it as it seemed a little pot bound, fed it and now stems of plant have gone black. Is it a gonna or worth holding on to,? Any ideas  anyone?

Have you 'scratched' one of the stems with your nail Julie to see if it looks alive underneath the 'black'? Such a shame if you have lost it after all those years.image

It seems half and half. Not totally dead but not green either. Being in a big pot would this have happened through lack of water. ?

Possibly Julie.  Give it a chance now - don't give up.  I thought I lost a bay (in the ground) through heavy frost a few yeas ago.  It looked very dead, but on advice from a GC I cut it down drastically fed and watered it and it is now a beautiful looking specimen.
