hopefully you knowledgable lot can help as I am unable to identify this tree! Despite searching I'm unable to find out what it is - it looks similar to an Elder but is very aggressive, sending shoots out on runners up to 6ft under ground & grows very quickly & vigorously. Previous owners have clearly hacked it back but there's no stopping it!

thanks in advance

It's a cornus but I can't remember the species name. Often used in municipal plantings

    In the sticks near Peterborough

Not an expert, long shot, vibernum? Looks similar with upward flowers and hanging leaves...

Cornus alba, but not "sibirica" which has red stems.
