Greenhouse roof

So we have put a few lines of glass on the roof just to see how it all goes and to make sure everything is in order. What we have noticed is the last Payne that over laps the sides where the roof ends will it be safe with the dry glazing and the 4 clips? My husband is concerned that there is nothing else holding that last piece in. We thought there would be a little clip that you push up that is connected to the frame bit that comes down to secure it all? He was thinking of putting a blob of goo/sealant but we are not sure. We have tried looking online for clips but doesn't appear they exist

    scroggin says:

I have put together a few aluminium greenhouses, normally there is a small ridge along the bottom of the roof line where it meets the side wall. The last pane of glass should butt up against this. If you have a different design then there should be some way of stopping the glass sliding down, the clips would probably hold it but there will be some form of retention for the glass.

My experience is similar to scroggins and I have also never seen one like that.

How about getting hold of more clips and using 8 per pane, 4 each side, on the lowest panes?

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Yes, I think we will have to do that. We haven't been able to find anything on the internet.

this greenhouse is 40-50 years old so who knows.

We have restored it. Cleaned and polished aluminium, new screws and nuts, and 50 out of 180 glass panels washed pristine.

it has been a good project but I'll be happy to get growing in there and not ever put a greenhouse up again

I found this picture online and it shows clips that hook around the frame and the bottom of the glass. It shouldn't be difficult to cobble something together for your greenhouse so that you don't get a glazing avalanche.
