Damson Tree Two Problems

I have severe leaf curl on my young damson tree and there is a green powdery substance on many of the branches and trunk.  It's looking very sad.  Any clues as to how I can treat it.  It is quite close to a Victoria Plum that as yet as escaped the leaf curl although there is some green powdery substance on some branches.

The 'green powdery stuff' is harmless algae - it won't be powdery when it's wet!

The leaf curl might be caused by aphids which can deform young leaves, so have a look for any signs of them and deal with them, though the birds might have eaten them by now! There could also possibly be caterpillars using the leaves for protection, so look out for them at the same time. Unless the problem affects more leaves or a large part of the tree, it is probably best just to leave it. The leaves will be replaced in due course.

Thanks for the advice. I've been away for the weekend and it was quite distressing seeing how sad it was looking.
