It has sprung up almost overnight and I'm concerned it might be something undesirable.imageimageimage

Any pics of living plants would be better image

It's hard to ID with the leaves wilting but looks like a Japanese Anenemoe variety. They bolt upright with astonishing speed in Spring and are truly beautiful plants that flower for many weeks in Summer and well into Autumn if faded flowers are dead-headed to encourage new flowers to form.

They can be invasive as they self-seed and have a network of white rhizomes that can be somewhat challenging to dig out if they are left untamed (particularly in light/loose soil conditions). But if contained, they are truly magestic plants.

I 2nd the japonese anemone. I inherited lots in my previous garden. They do spready, but I found them quite easy to clear and keep away from the areas I didn't want them

Oh. I feared something awful, but now I'm regretting having dug them up!

Thank you so much - it's awfully kind of you to respond.
