Rosemary cuttings
Morning all, yesterday my neighbour gave me a large branch from her well established rosemary as i had mentioned i would like to have a go at propatgating. I have never tried this so after a bit of research i decided to have a go at getting them to root in water,Has anyone had sucsess doing it this way?

I haven't but I know you can do it this way. Heer's some info on how to do it and what comes next - should you need it - http://growagoodlife.com/propagate-rosemary-plant-from-stem-cuttings/
I'm about to try it with a woody but tasty thyme plant we've inherited in this new garden.

Yes, I've had a go at this. I was given a single sprig of Rosemary and after watching a few youtube videos, stripped the lower leaves and placed it in a glass of water, such that the bottom inch or two, with the stripped leaves is submerged. Glass was left on a windowsill. I changed the water every few days, though I'm not sure this was necessary since the water never turned murky.
Sure enough, after a few days new roots were visible. Over the next few weeks these grew into a tangled mess and I decided to plant the sprig into a small pot of compost. At this point I was expecting the thing to die, but it adapted to the new environment admirably. I watered the pot regularly to help the rosemary transition from water to soil.
A year or so later, it is still healthy, and I harvest sprigs every now and then for cooking.
Honestly, if I could manage it on my first attempt, with just one sprig, then it must be easy.
Good luck!
Oh forgot to mention that prior to placing the sprig in water, I shaved off a little of the woody 'bark' at the base of the sprig, in order to help the new roots grow out.
Thanks Obelixx and George have done 4 cuttings so hoping one will root ,will let you know.
Rosemary's very easy from seed too
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
