I haven't heard of any repeat flowering Flag Irises but there are new strains of repeat flowering Bearded Irises.

While You are talking about Irises can you confirm for me which type of Iris is which

    This is my ignorance showing.

Some iris are grown in the damp and some with their rhizomes bakiing in the sun. One type is a Flag iris and one Bearded Iris. I need the sort if Iris which needs the baked rhizomes . I have discovered a potential place for some.

Immortality is a white bearded. Don't be misled by the repeat flowering tag. That won't happen unless you have exceptional conditions. Lucky to get one lot of flowers from any of 'em here  image

The sibiricas like damp too Iamweedy. The bearded types are the ones you're after. They're also the ones you're most likely to find in garden centres.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

IAW - Bearded Irises are the ones that need the sun baked rhizomes and Sibirica Irises like damp areas. 'Flag' is a rather vague name that can be used for some Irises but in the UK Flag Irises are the lovely yellow wild types that live in ponds. These can become very thuggish though and have to be carefully watched or they take over.

The new repeat flowering types only bloom twice a year its claimed (but like Fairy Girl I remain to be convinced) - once in early summer then again in autumn.
