How to kill a laburnum
I have a laburnum by the side of my driveway. Although it looks nice in summer, it's a bleeding nuisance when the pods and petals fall. They get everywhere. I've recently chopped it down to about 8 foot high. reason behind this is down to how cool the trunk looks, all twisted and twined around itself. If I drove copper nails into the lower part of the trunk, would this prevent it from sprouting again and even kill it?

I love them, but if you don't want it, you'd be better getting someone in to remove it, rather than just butchering it You could ust cut it right down to base, then get someone in with a stump grinder.
If you want the trunk, just keep pruning off any new growth rather than hammering nails into it.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
As Fairy says, Get someone in to remove it.
You'll find lots of qualified tree surgeons who will be happy to give you a fair price to do a good job.

Decent sized logs of green laburnum wood are often of use to artisan wood turners so don't just chop it up ... You could give it to a wood artist and get a lovely bowl for your home as payment ... Google for local craft societIes.
