Hello Everyone

Been to my allotment today and we have bees making their home in a bird box .Don't know what to do about it whether to leave them to get on with it or get them moved to somewhere else.

You might have to zoom in but believe me that box is rammed with them

Any ideas what to do

Thanks

They're probably Tree Bees ... they often nest in bird boxes.  They're fine ... not  at all aggressive and good pollinators so good to have around the allotments.

They'll move on of they're own accord at the end of the summer.

There's nothing you need do other than enjoy watching them.

There were some in next door's roof the other year ... there were usually a few 'guards' who used to 'dance' around the entrace to the nest ...fascinating to watch.

Lots of interesting stuff  about them here

I had the same happen a year or 3 back Baza.  I thought it was quite nice having a nest of pollinators in the garden. image

Agree with Dove & Bob. Enjoy them while they last & grow plenty of fruit/veg

I think its amazing that they are there because yesterday they weren't today there is hundreds of them. I'd love to know when the queen was checking it out  and then send out the signal that she's found some digs he he. Like I said before I've got 32 sunflowers on the go so if they are still around when they flower it'll be a case of fill ya boots lads.

    Thanks
