Cooked food in compost

    I seem to recall on some programme or another (I, know - it's all rather vague) that the mould that grows on bread - the blue/grey stuff - actually inhibits the good bacteria in the compost heap, and that it is best not added.  I could, of course, be totally wrong, but maybe there's someone with a scientific bent who would know?

    For the record the mould on bread is very toxic to dogs, can kill them in a couple of days.  I read in lots of garden books, you shouldnt add cooked food to the compost especially meats, because of the bacterior,toxins in meat going off, nothing to do with attracting meat, same way they say you can add bedding and ahem waste from animals that eat veg, but not dog or cat waste products, as they eat meat.

    That should say "NOTHING TO DO WITH ATTRACTING VERMIN", not MEAT!  I dont eat meat, perhaps thats why I put that LOL
