Favourite late flowering clematis
I'm after buying some more clematis, I've took a shine to the viticella variety's
Anyone got any favourite viticella / late flowering clematis or recommended ones.
I got viticella super Nova on my order list already I just feel I need to get another one or 2 just in case
.
Need one to grow up the pergola into the apple tree if it wishing to so 8 ft + would be more ideal. Another to grow on a 3 / 4 ft fence and along the top but not to vigorous it will swamp the surrounded plants about 5 / 6 ft maybe

Oh - there's so many - and you can never have too many ....
Etoile Violette is one of my favourites, and also Rouge Cardinal.
There are also some good whites if you have a shadier spot - Maria Cornelia is particularly nice.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I like the ones with smaller but more abundant flowers eg Betty Corning which is perfumed, Alba Luxurians and Caerulea Luxurians, Little Nell, Princess Diana and, for a big space, Huldine. Etoile Violette is a good one where you want strong colour that doesn't fade in sun and one of my other favourites is Blue Angel.
You can look up there details on here - http://www.clematis.hull.ac.uk/new-clemdetail.cfm?dbkey=561 and then try Hawthorne nurseries or Thorneycroft who do mail order if you can't find them locally.
I had all these and many more in the garden I left behind last October. I brought with me some of my newer clems still in pots including Lambton Park which is a long flowering scented tangutika type and I have bought an I am Happy and a My Angel which should also flower till late on.
Look at Polish Spirit, too. As said, there are so many. Every one is a favourite when its flowers open

I'm very fond of Madame Julia Correvon - she's gorgeous scrambling up my fence

Thanks I'll take a look at them all, so much choice.
Negritianka, White Magic, Morning Heaven are some of my favourites
viticella Black Prince. Yummity yum.

Absolutely gorgeous and totally reliable
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I was think of planting another clematis viticella on the pergola with the wisteria prolific, will it affect / smoother the wisteria in any way ? The wisteria is established, I know it will probably make pruning the wisteria slightly harder.
Depends what size the pergola is Perki. Wisteria and viticella clematis are both fairly rampant once they get going.
