Victoria Plum Tree

Hi

Please can anybody advise on my Plum Tree. It is about 6 years old and usually very healthy. This year it was covered in heavy blossom that we were hit by a hard frost early in April . As expected the blossom just withered, but we do not have a single leave forming on the tree. Is the tree dead?

Any help appreciate

The leaves are generally close behind the blossom, almost emerging together. I bet that the new leaves got the same hit as the blossom and were killed.  Have a close look, check to see if the stems are green under the bark. It should be ok. They're tough trees, very hardy

Don't worry, the tree is not dead.  New shoots will form but it's unlikely that you will get any fruit this year.

Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.
  • Thank you Hortum-creatae and Redwing, good to now that the tree is just having a rest, will check the stems and see if any new shoots are appearing
