Mulch bark - when to put it down?

Hi all - hope you're well! image

Bit of a newbie question... I have an empty border around my lawn and want some plants and mulch bark to fill it.

My question is, will I need to leave the plants in for a while before putting the bark down - or can it go in when the plants are reasonably new?

I was a bit worried that the bark might prevent them growing / establishing themselves otherwise.

Thanks in advance!

Andy, you can put mulch down at any time except when the ground is very dry.  I would advise waiting until all the planting is done though as planting through a bark mulch is a bit of a faff.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
