Cutting scented rose

RobmarstonRobmarston Posts: 338

over the past year my interest in roses has been steadily increasing.  I would very much like a red or white (ish) strongly scented rose that cuts well. I have a climbing ena harkness that I love but it has weak stems. The same applies to my Mme Alfred Carriere. The iceberg cuts reasonably well but has very little scent. Although my preference is for the red or white range I'd be interested in recommendations of any highly scented roses that are good for cutting.

Look on Sarah Ravens website RobMarsden. She has some beautiful roses on there that are suitable for cutting and are highly scented.

I have Deep Secret in my rose bed and it is my favourite for fragrance and colour.

Have a look at Darcey Bussell and Windermere from David Austin - recommended for cutting on their site.

This article recommends roses for cutting - sift through for red and white - as well as how to cut and care for them for a longer vase life - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/gardening/3348651/Gardening-Top-10-roses-for-cutting.html

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
