Is My Dwarf Blueberry Bush Healthy?
in Fruit & veg
I just bought this guy at Home Depot a few days ago and I'm wondering if he's okay. Some of his branches are brown at the ends and a few leaves have little spots. Also some of the leaves are burnt and a few are/were dead. He came like this and I've been gently keeping him moist and sunny. He looks greener to me but I'm not sure since this is my first time with blueberries. I do plan on moving him into a nice 5 gal bucket in the future. Oh also last night he took a fall from a few feet onto his side, will he be okay? I know the roots are very delicate and I'm worried that he might die.
I'm trying to upload pictures but it's not going so well on my phone. With a lack of home Internet it may take a while to post pictures.

Blueberries need to be in ericaceous (acid-loving) potting soil/compost. Also, you need more than one plant of different varieties in order to cross-pollinate. I don't know where a reliable blueberry seller is in the US (this is mostly a UK forum but welcome) but you may want to Google it and ask a specialist for advice. If you want to ask advice via email, look up the Dorset Blueberry Company/Trehane Nursery. They are very helpful. But you won't get many blueberries without another bush to cross-pollinate (unless yours happens to be self-fertile) and I'm not sure but I think it needs to be a different variety. Blueberries originate in the US so there must be places that specialize in them. Good luck.
