Mystery plant struggling with bed move

Darren8Darren8 Posts: 46

Hello again.

I wonder if you could help my mother in law out with this one?

She's recently had some work done and had to transfer some plants to different beds. All seem fine with most of them however, there's one that was really healthy last year which looks like it's struggling a bit.

This is the plant in question.

She doesn't know what the plant is so we can't look it up online to see if the move to the more shaded border is the cause.

Anyone know what this is & any ideas how to perk it up?

Thanks

Darren

oh i had that in my last garden, had it in a pot - even tried planting it) and no matter where i put it it always looked unhappy! i bought it from aldi (or shop like that) with mine the end of leaves kept going brown and falling off, ended up having to bin it. Hope you have more luck as it looks a lovely plant, I think it was a sun lover (i think this is why i bought it as i had a very sunny/no shade garden)

I think that's Nerium oleander but I've never grown it so can't advise

It is an Oleander. It's a Mediterranean plant so likes the sun.

I grow mine in pots so they can be put in the greenhouse for winter. I live in a cold place and it's not frost hardy, but is OK with temps down to freezing or even a fraction below. I have mine in quite gritty compost but it needs a fair bit of watering when it's warm.

It is also toxic so handle with care and wash your hands afterwards. I've had one for years with no problems, though I keep them away from my cat who sometimes decides to nibble leaves!

All of you - many thanks for that.

I'll pass the info on. She'll be made up.
