Cherry tree but no cherries forming.

BLTBLT Posts: 525

I am puzzled my Cherry tree was doing really well this year.. Lots of blossom and looking green and healthy, no hint of pests or disease..  And by the way  there were Bees about and I noticed last week green cherries forming..  But on closer inspection there were only a total of 3 cherries, the rest look like tiny pips on a stalk and if the cherry might appear  Any hopes please???  I did have Cherries last year but the birds ate them. in the future ??  How long?

I think there will not be a crop this year..

England, Essex..  Further inspection today have revealed a few more cherries forming so maybe I was being a bit previous lol..  I am just watering daily and hoping that the birds do not get there first image

BLT, all the cherries won't form. All of the blossom won't get polinated or the weather. Can you cover them with fleece or netting.image

I tried netting last year and the birds found their way in..  As its ina large tubI moved it too a more shelter position and on watering well and checking more cherries are now forming..  I have anew large fleece that I will use to cover them... I thank you for your reply.. Cherries are my favourite fruit its a shame they aren't around for longer. image
