Are they inside or outside? If outside they may have been caught by that cold snap we had.

have those cups got enough drainage? Are the roots getting water-logged?

Looks like they're outside. Far too young and small to be outdoors, especially when the weather has been hot oneminute, cold the next. Tomatoes need minimum temps above ten degrees overnight to thrive. More than that if they're tiny like those.

I only grow annual spinach - I'd say cold weather is the issue there too though.

The tomatoes were inside,  for a couple of weeks we didnt have any sun so they didnt get a lot of light on the bay window,  i took half of them outside that day after finding them like that.  But even today two weeks later they still look ill,  loads have completely died a few of the better ones still look like they did two weeks ago not grown at all,  very light in colour,  and the leaves are dieing.

The spinich has been under a cold fram outside,  being closed at night and opened in the morning until the weater got warmer then i left it open.

The cups have got four holes in the bottom of each and i only potted them in them a few weeks before, the smaller tomatoe plants i did hadnt been repotted and they did the same,  they had all been on the winowsill indoors until they did that then i took half out.

Are they very wet then? The compost looks very heavy.

I Only watered them when they started to go dry,  i really dont know what happend to them,  its so sad becauses i got them this far then this happened,.

THe spinich was doing well until today, now its gone transparent.

ANd yesterday the pigieons took my baby cabbages,  ive netted whats left, but dont seem to be having much luck on my gardening at all,

Drainage - and too cold outdoors are my suggestions.  I don't use cups preferring 3 inch pots with crock or something absorbent at the bottom of each but room for the water to drain through the holes. I would think that even if they were started inside - the transition to outdoors could have been too much of a shock for these young plants.  Even in Guernsey we haven't put out tomato plants outside yet.

I'm sorry - I know how dispiriting it can be when it's not supposed to be this hard. image

This year's weather has been rather harsh for many plants - very dry, late frosts, cold drying winds. If you don't have lots of greenhouse space it can be hard to get seeds off and running some seasons. Could you get a few young tomato plants from a garden centre? It's not too late to try again with the perpetual spinach. Hopefully the weather is a little warmer now so they may germinate faster and grow on well now.

I'd put a few more holes in the cups though image

So have you been putting them outside each day for a couple of weeks? They're not ready for that Ange.
