I've had it three/four years but as I lived away for the last 18 months before returning home, its suffered in my absence. The pot is 35cm across, the roots fill the pot completely! The plant is about 35-40 cm high, the ends of the leaves have split, giving it the hairy appearance rather than the leafy one it had before.
It has flowered previously. Lots of small, insignificant flowers running along slightly arching stems. They may have been faintly white? I can't remember to be honest!
I'm guessing that taking it out of the pot and cutting it just off centre would give me two halves that I could repot into bigger pots wouldn't give me two dead halves of one plant! Cutting it off centre would hopefully allow one bit to survive?
it needs sorting out, it's looked so much better in the past! I saw one at an RHS show that made me want to buy my own...

I looked at that list. I honestly don't recognise any of the scientific names on there, but it has to be one of them I suppose!
That's quite an established plant, did it flower last year? Can you remember what they looked like?
How big is it? what size is the pot?
I assume it look rather better than that at some point in the year if you're looking to divide it?
In the sticks near Peterborough

If it had white flowers that rules out all the grass family.
Are you sure it isn't Libertia peregrinans.?

It has roots that run...then it sends up a new plant.
Over time it can spread to form enormous invasive patches which smother other plants.
Looking at some of those pictures I'm guessing it must be Libertia and I've just not remembered the name of it as well as I do other plants!
I don't remember it having white flowers quite that size but then I haven't seen it flower for a while because I've not been around...
I'm guessing the problem of identification is solved and now I just need to find out how to divide it.
A chain saw would do it!
Lol thanks for the recommendation!
