Black spots on patio

Just wondered if anyone had successfully removed black spots from a patio?
I powerwashed which has cleaned the stones but made absolutely no difference to the spots. Someone suggested I try steam clean or I wondered if there were any products that worked? Hoping someone has a success story as it really spoils the look of the patio and know it will be £££ to replace it. Thanks!

Lisa you could try Jeyes Fluid I do my patio with it giving it a really good scrub and it looks amazing when its finished.
it is lichen spots. Would jeyes help so you think?
There was a company at the Malvern Show by the name of 'The Patio Black Spot Removal Company'. At a guess they may be what you are looking for. Who needs Poirot when you have my deductive powers to fall back on?

It's not cheap, but if you've spend a lot on the patio (like me) it might be worth trying. Thankfully we don't have a problem with black spots at the moment.
