Birch leaf damage

anyone have any ideas as to what might be doing this to my birch trees?

    No, not a joke - we've had some heavy hail here in East Anglia ... hail can cause damage  very like that.

    Wow didn't know that! No hail as far as I am aware but bursts of monsoon like rainfall, we are in West Wales

    Well, you will get plenty of rain over there then - that could have damaged leaves - whatever it is, I don't think it's anything to worry about.

     If there are bugs causing a bit of damage most healthy trees can cope with it ... especially if you do all you can to attract small birds to the area by hanging bird feeders - this week families of blue tits are hoovering up bugs and caterpillars from our trees, shrubs, rose bushes, clematis and honeysuckles.  

    Trees are like people, the best of them show evidence of having lived image

    Thanks for the positive words, most encouraging, my concern is that they are very young silver birches, I only planted them a few months ago ?
