Plant dead bud
Hi All,
I am having trouble with an exotic plant.
The bud is not growing (it seem dried in and brown, at least on the surface) and the old leaves are dying. It has been like this for 7 months. I had hoped that it would come along now in spring but it is looking worse.
Does anyone know what type of plant it is and what, if anything, can be done to save it? I would really appreciate any input.

It looks like a Ficus Lyrata - the Fiddle Leaf Fig. Firstly it is far too close to that radiator and that may have contributed to its browning leaves and dead buds. This link will give you some helpful advice.

Thank you for the name on the plant. I will try to improve general environment conditions for it. The link you send was useful.
Would you happen to know if there is some way that I specifically can try to boost bud growth, maybe by using some hormone or similar?
Additional information:
The radiator under the window is not currently turned on. It was turned on previously this winter though and may, as you said, have contributed to the browning of the leaves.
The window is facing south south east. The climate is temperate (latitude 59 degrees). It is a bit dry indoors. There are no insects on the leaves or in the soil. However, there is a bit of a white powder on the soil (I attached an image).

Hi again anders. Its a little difficult to make out what the 'white powder' is but an educated guess would just put it down to mineral salts in the compost left behind as water evaporates from the top. If you haven't repotted it recently then I would try some fresh compost. I think regular feeding will trigger more buds. Apply a liquid general fertiliser twice a month during the growing season. Good luck
Hi Ladybird4,
I will try repotting it now. Thanks for all the advise.
You are most welcome
Hi again,
Ladybird4, Thanks a bunch.
I have re-potted it in fresh soil with a lot of humus and no manure as I think they live in relatively nutrient poor conditions. I have carefully watered it without additional nutrients letting it drying out a bit in between but not too much. There is also summer here so better light conditions.
