Deer eating roses?
For the first time I've had my roses destroyed. No leaves on the ground. It looks like an animal may have decided to have a picnic. Does anyone have any experience of this- I have recently seen deer in the garden, can they eat roses? This happened over a period of 2 nights.

Get up early, first light, just as the blackbirds start to sing, and look out of your window ... have your camera primed and set ready ............ then show us the culprits

Thanks Dovefromabove , I will try .
Muntjac regard roses as a particular delicacy.
We had to have gates put on the previously open driveway to keep them out of the garden. They virtually destroyed my newly planted border a few years ago.
Found the deer last night at 2.18 am.
How to stop him revisiting now.?
We had this problem a week ago and accidentally repaired our fence with the muntjak deer inside. Whoops! It's now outside but in the meantime we ordered a deer deterrent device. It has a movement sensor and turns on a light and plays the radio when it senses movement. It gets good reviews but I can't yet tell you from personal experience whether it works as we haven't installed ours yet.
Thank you, please let me know where to buy that device.
We got ours from Ebay but I think they're quite widely sold. If you google "Deer deterrent" it will be one of the shopping links. Don't know if this link will work:

I've found that sprinkling bits of Irish Spring soap around my rose bushes and hostas has helped keep the deer away from a few plants that can't be fenced off. I don't know how long it will work. I've also read that spreading cuttings from your hair dresser will deter them as well.
When I look at the title of this thread I cannot help but think about the roses which are eating the deer.
