Acer ID please

I'm going through an acer obsession at the moment. This was planted by my father in lawjust before he died 7 years ago. Anybody know which it is? Thanks

It looks like Acer palmatum.
Impossible to say if it is a named cultivar.
The orange dream next to it has now gone lime green whereas this one is different. The second pic took ages to load sorry.
Katsura maybe?
Quite a lot of these Acers have Japanese names and as Silver Surfer said, it is too hard to name one. Just enjoy it and the memories it must bring.
Massive Acer fan - it's really difficult to identify the cultivar names, as others have said. I have been searching for my own, and yours, but often I find a similar leaf but the bark or stem colour is not right. It might be worth searching once you notice any colour change through Summer - some go darker etc. Katsura looks promising - although that's more orangey then goes lime green I think?
I second Ladybird in saying - enjoy the gorgeous tree and feel happy memories.
Ooh. I was also wondering about katsura. The thing is I want one for my own garden and wanted to research to see how much sun that particular cultivar could tolerate.
Never mind, I might just take cuttings anyway and keep in a pot if I am successful.

Even with the tree right infront of them an expert in Acers would probably struggle.
Spring colour/autumn colour, leaf size, stem colour, growth rate all need to be checked.
Some Acer palmatums are seed grown and do not have a cultivar name.
If your tree is grafted it may be a named cultivar...but there are 1000's
I also had an Acer obsession, I can warn you...it is not a cheap hobby.

Love it and look after it...water it and mulch it well.
The stems look red?! Could be Sango Kaku
And remember they hate wind!
