Rhubarb Diseases

Hi, 

So about a month back I bought a rhubarb plant that I believe was in its first year - with instructions not to yield the fruit in its first year. Anyway, I planted out in the garden in a sunny position as per the instructions and then within days the leaves started turning crimson red. Even the odd new stalk that started growing, the leaves have gone bright red.

Is this normal or is there anything I can do?
