Honeysuckle Powdery Mildew

Hi,

I have obviously not watered one of my honeysuckles enough this dry May. It is on a South East facing wall climbing up to 10feet and well established.

We moved in 18months ago and it was flourishing last year when we developed our herb garden around it. The herbs are doing brilliantly and I was reluctant to over water them this year.

The honeysuckle is slightly away from the wall (just over 6 inches) and the main herb garden starting with oregano is about 2 feet from the base of the honeysuckle. But an established bay tree and some chives are within a foot of it.

So is it too late to do a hard prune, mulch and regular watering? I don't mind sacrificing this seasons flowers. Or is it in the wrong place and just needs digging up?

Thanks in advance

Water it - a lot - every few days.

It's not the ideal association - herbs and honeysuckle. Different conditions. 6 inches from a wall isn't ideal either, but if it's been ok till now, that's fair enough. I'd be inclined to move the other plants if they've not been there long image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Yes, easier to move the herbs but you could also dig a hole and bury a 1 Litre water bottle 2/3rds down on either side of the honeysuckle - pointy end down and bottom cut off and then pour water down through those so it goes directly to the honeysuckle and less to the herbs.   That will help it recover and thrive.
