cordyline Help needed

The cordylines that we had in our garden all died in the nasty winter a few years back. Luckily they have all started to re grow. The problem I'm asking for help with is that some of them have 4 or 5 trunks growing from the ground. One is very near the house and I feel that it should  be taken out or reduced to one trunk. It's not only stopping the view but I worry if they all stay together and we have a  gale they will fall straight at  my window.  I would love some advice on what to do and how to do it. Thank you.
