Can someone I.D this please

Michael199Michael199 Posts: 175

This has popped up in a shady border. The neighbours behind have a Cherry Laurel tree and a Buddleia but I don't think it's either of them.

On my side I have an Astilbe closeby...but the leaves are not a match for that either.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

looks like astilbe, or filipendula, I'm not risking my reputation on saying it's either for sure though.

Your astilbes are probably cultivars (ie Cultivated Varieties) and would not seed true. This could be an astilbe seedling

My first thought was that it had come from one of the other Astilbes. It even grew the same, with the stalks unfurling like little coiled springs. But when i studied the leaf shape it was slightly different.

So it could be a seedling that is not true to the mother plant.

    Thank you nutcutlet, and Hostafan1.
