Saw this brown small plant which seems to be regenerating- what is it?

    It might be a euphorbia seedling. My Eupohorbia  Amygdaloides Purpurea seeds madly everywhere and the seedlings are like that. It is a bit of a thug when it gets bigger, although pretty. Have you or a neighbour got any euphorbias? Check out some pictures on google.

    Carmarthenshire (mild, wet, windy). Loam over shale, very slightly sloping, so free draining. Mildly acidic or neutral.

    It could possibly be a Cotinus coggygria Royal Purple.

    or a purple oak leafed lettuce? or Berberis Thunbergii Atro? or B. Ottawnesis purpurea?
