Swiss Chard

Does anyone know if you can keep swiss chard going if you take off the flowering stems? Mine have lasted beautifully all through the winter, and I'm reluctant to pull them up while they're still producing leaves.  Will it become a losing battle?

    You can keep it cropping for a few more weeks, but that's all.  It's a biennial,

  • Yes, I suspected that would be the case. Love the stuff, all the qualities of spinach, not half as temperamental. Cheers.

    :) Just get this year's lot sown! I must remember to pull up another plant or two here as they've started bolting. I grow fordhook giant chard, once made sag dal with 1.5 leaves...
