Bosch Isio Trimmer

Has anyone bought one of these lately and are you pleased with it?

Is it light enough for someone with arthritis in fingers and shoulder?

I've got one and I absolutely love it and use it all the time. I bought it partly because I have RSI so a repetitive action, such as using shears, sets it off. The only thing is that you have to hold down 2 buttons to keep the trimmer running - would you have a problem holding your hand in such a position? Otherwise it's very light, and satisfying to use. I even use it to trim off weeds in my borders when I don't have time to do it properly but just want a tidy up. My one niggle is that I don't think you can sharpen the blades, so eventually I'll have to buy a new blade for it.

Thanks for that mjd2000 - very helpful.  I don't think the two button action would be too difficult for me, so I'll put the tool on my birthday wish list!!

I've had one for a while. It's handy for waving about in the ivy or box but it will snag on woody twigs. It's a useful tool for trimming young, soft growth.

I had one and found it great for edging the lawn and light trimming. Left it out in the rain and killed it. Knowing I would likely do so again I replaced it with a cheap from Lidl for £15. Found it just as good and lighter that the Bosch. I have arthritis is my fingers and wrist and find them fine to use.

I bought one of these yesterday.  Like others I have arthritis in my hands/wrists and any repetitive actions can trigger very painful episodes.  I've used it to trim the weeds round plants on banking, and also on some softer bushes.  It's very light, and the model I have doesn't require two fingers, except for starting up.  (You have to push a safety button in to press the start button, but you can release that one and have only one to continually hold down.)  I can't do both actions with the same hand - painful thumb joint - so I use the other hand to get it started.  It's going to be very useful.

Interesting comments, so thanks guys.  I wonder if the Lidl one will last though.  Might be a good idea to get a cheaper one and see how I get on with it as the Bosch one is rather expensive. I need it mainly for all my dwarf box hedging mainly and some topiary I'm having fun with - we have a dragon in the garden!

I'm off to Malvern tomorrow and for the first time haven't actually got a wish list. It looked good in Monty's programme tonight so I'm looking forward to it.
