Should I panic??

HI There.  I've been in this house now for 2 years and have spotted for the first time a few stems of Horsetail.  I've not seen it in the garden before.  We had a lot of renovation work done to the house last year with ground works & all so it could of come in from anywhere I guess.

I haven't tried to dig it up - I tried bruising the stems as suggested on here but they just snapped off.  (managed to catch all the bits I think!)  I then covered the stems with a contact weedkiller.  I'm a bit concerned as the few stems are right next to my neighbours boundary so If I don't get rid of it I think it will easily spread next door

Any suggestions?  Am I doomed?? :(

Just keep pulling out what you see.  There's unfortunately little to be gained by trying to dig it out, as all that does is break it into smaller pieces, each of which can regrow independently.
