New to Begonia Fragrant Falls Apricot Delight

Hi

I got 6 Jumbo plugs of these on special offer when buying some petunia/geranium plugs thinking that they would grow 'upwards' on the tower frames I also bought for the petunia/tidal wave.

I always copy the info on the Thomson & Morgan pages as to how to care etc but noticed on the photo (see below) that the begonia seem to be on one of those extendable cane type frames.

This may be the most ridiculous question ever asked on here but are they growing 'up' or 'down', I have no idea what a flower pouch is (that is mentioned as an option alongside a hanging basket) and I don't have hanging baskets.

If this plant is a 'trailer' does this mean it could be trained to climb up a frame?  Could I just put these in pots?

Any advice is greatly appreciated, I hate it when I mess things up because of my lack of understanding.

My mum grows these in hanging baskets. Flower pouches are just like small grow bags of compost with a hanging loop. They will do fine in pots, hanging over the edges, but they are not climbers.

  • I am also looking for fragrant falls. Where can I get it?

Try Thompson and Morgan, but take note of the list of postcodes that they can't deliver to.

Renata, I have never seen begonia trained up on any frame trellis etc . They are usually planted in some form of a basket/ pot and let to trail downwards, as in your picture. Nevertheless with lots of tying in, should be possible to grow upwards but not sure of the final effect .... If you have 6, you can always try with 1. Im sure others may tell you if its a bad idea!
