Self seeded plant ID help please :)

Hi all, does anyone know what this plant is? It appears to have a selfseeded ans there are now a couple growinh together. I'd like to know whether I need to whip it out or leave it in! Thank you for your help in advance :)

    It's not good news I'm afraid. It looks like horsetail.

  • I've just googled it and you're right! Yeah I'll be getting it out as soon as I can but it does sound quite a persistent thug! Thank you so much for your help!!

    Try not to break off any stems underground as they can regenerate into new plants.

    Yes, it's horsetail/mares tail. Soak the soil first, makes it easier to pull them out. Try to get every little root, otherwise they will grow again.
