What are these?

Hi everyone!
My first post here and I'm so happy to finally own a garden of my own! I've moved into a house where the garden has been left for years, it was a right mess!
I'm keen to crack on and make it better, so thought I'd join a forum. I've never had a garden before so I'm a complete novice, so bear with me!
I am wondering if anyone can help identify the plant in the photo?
Are they pretty safe or just a weed I need to kill? If So what's the best way to kill them? They seem to be over taking the garden!
Thanks guys
Adam

Hello Adam and welcome to the Forum. They are Spanish bluebells and they can get rampant. Thats their only drawback as they are quite pretty to see in the Spring and they'll die away during Summer just to reappear next year. If you really don't like them you can dig them out but you are bound to miss a few. I throw out bucketfuls every year and every year my front garden (which is quite small) is over run again!
Hi ladybird, many thanks for the reply!
They do look pretty so I might just leave them for now.
Are they harmful to dogs do you know?
They are only poisonous if your dog (or you
) eats a load of them - like daffodils. They are unlikely to be too much of a problem otherwise there would be red alerts in all the media every Spring.
Hey,
Thanks for the info! Might leave them for the time being and dif them away if they get out of hand! Adds a but of colour to the garden currently haha.
Here's a before and after of my work so far. Needs colour!
Looking good there Adam!
Is that a fruit tree in the middle of the garden?
It's an apple tree! Currently pink in flower
Garden is west facing, gets loads of sun coming in from the south (left side of pic)
An apple - how lovely. Lots of scope there Adam and a nice orientation.
