It's brilliant! A bit of a shame to take the bed down now as it looked so good. Loads of people on the forum are asking what to do with left over turf. Inspired!

I think the top tip about covering it with black plastic was my saving grace @Thankthecat. Stopped any sprouting in it's tracks.

I guess that heat from the bricks warming up in the summer sun combined with a regular soaking when I watered the plants on top helped too. I may be wrong about that though, just speculating.

Kitty - I remember you talking about that last year and my how good it looks now. All your hard work is paying off in spades - see what I did there? I'll get my coat

@Fire. Well.... it was a bit of a hit with the locals 😉 so I am in the process of re-jigging it a bit smaller to properly plant up for this summer. That way I can reach to the back of it for weeding.
Have already recycled some of the bricks for a narrow path, I love making something out of rubbish 😆

oh, me too. There's not much stuff which is properly 'rubbish' - just a means to create something new.

Cool - I might copy this for the “pollinator patch” in last months GW.

So you just stacked them, soaked them, covered in black plastic and left them?

Good idea Kitty, looked great too. Think I would have left the bricks there and used it again. But your path sounds lovely too 🤗🤗
