Silverskin Onions Overwintered

Hi all, my silver skin onions went in too late last year to harvest them so I left them in over winter. They now resemble enormous spring onions but haven't really formed a proper bulb and the stalks are thick and I notice that some of them are producing a flower stalk.  What should I do?  Do I leave them and hope they bulb or are they a write off?  I was hoping to pickle them but they are not going to be tiny like the ones you see in the shops.

Onions are biennial Amanda, growing the bulb in the first year and then flowering and seeding in the second, so I think they are a lost cause, unfortunately.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Oh dear, I have put some new seeds in now so should harvest a crop in late summer, thanks for the advice.

The bees and hoverflies will love you if you just let them flower.
