Agapanthus-planting out.

Peanuts3Peanuts3 Posts: 759

I've grown these from seed, planted Nov 2015. do you think I will be able to plant them out this summer? Is it worth me potting them on into 2 litre pots for a few months. They've been in my cold frame all winter.

I would pot them on into slightly bigger pots and keep doing that each year until they flower (usually in their 3rd year in my experience.)  Doing this will encourage them to start flowering quicker than if planted in a border while still small.  One they begin flowering then plant them out into their final positions and they should continue to bloom every year.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Really ?? Oh goodness, they are a labour of love, I've pottted on a few and have run out of compost so a job for later on in the week.  I was hoping to get them in the ground this year, I'm running out of room on my patio and its starting to look like a garden nursery LOL.

Patience, patience.... that's whay I need.  Thank you for the advice.
