Jasmine

Karen365Karen365 Posts: 2

i have a jasmine of sentimental value that I wish to take with me when I move In May/June. It is I the ground and completely tangled in the fence and a plant from next door at the top of the fence. Can I cut it right back and dig it up and put it in a pot or will this completely kill it. I know pruning should take place after flowering but this is the wrong time of year to cut it back. Will it do any harm to cut it back now to pot it? Any advice gratefully received. Thank you

I would leave it till as near as possible to the move before digging it up with as large a root ball as possible.keep it well watered and then plant in the ground as soon as you can.

I don't think cutting it back would harm it,you just wouldn't get any flowers.

It's always a risk moving well established plants but I have done it successfully several times.

Can you take cuttings as a safeguard?

Thanks for your advice. I'm clearly not a gardener and have no idea how to take cuttings so will take your advice and dig it out the day before we move and find a place for it as soon as possible.
