How is my Chinese wisteria growing?

Hi

My Chinese wisteria has been planted for approximately 2 months now.in that time it has grown slightly and there are some green buds which seem to be leafing out (please see pic).

My questions are the condition of the plant doesn't seem very vibrant ? Also  should green leafs be showing now ? As I thought it should get abit more larger first.

My wisteria are only just starting to produce leaves (flowers come first, once they are old enough to flower.)  Yours looks fine and, as it is newly planted, will be concentrating on growing roots for the next couple of years.  After that you can expect some rapid growth to take place.

Thanks Bob. I am new to gardening and I made the mistake of not soaking the rootball prior to planting and only making the planting hole the same size as the rootball.  I have been in to minds whether to dig it up and replant in a larger hole but I have seen some growth recently..

It will grow better if planted properly with a well prepared hole.  In its first year after a spring planting it will need watering in dry spells to keep it going.   Once the leaves grow the plant will start photosynthesising to produce food and will then have the energy to grow but it does need to develop a good root system too..

Yes thanks. But will it be worth redigging the plant up...?
