rabbits

Monty asked for tips to stop rabbits eating new plants on this week's programme, 5/5/17, I have to protect all my baby plants from rabbits and have found this works.  Hope it works for others too.

1.You take a soft black plastic pot (about 8 inches - 20 cm - across or bigger ) cut out the bottom so you have a ring of plastic.

2. Find some 3 foot approx. (1meter) sticks - you need 3 or 4 per pot.

3. Plant out your baby plant.

4. Place the ring of plastic pot encircling the plant. Place the sticks along the edge of the pot on the inside the pot.  The black plastic stops the rabbit seeing the plant and the sticks anchor the pot and  stop the rabbit  climbing into the pot.  You can also put a few slug pellets in the pot if your baby plant needs protection in the early stage, knowing that the pot will stop any hedgehogs and protect them too.
