Laurel

Hi, I planted 50 laurel plants 2 years ago. They was only 30cm high when I planted the. They are doing well I keepvtrimming them so they bush out. Ive put a big thick layer of mulch down about 3 inch. I put it next to the wooden stems. But just been reading about mulch and it said mulch can weaken the stem. Does anybody know if this is correct thanks Joanne

Hi Joanne. Just leave a gap between the mulch and the stems. As long as you keep the mulch from actual contact with the stems it will be absolutely fine.

Mine are heavily mulched each year - just keep it a few inches away as Ladybird says - you won't have a problem image
