Forsythia pruning

I've been asked to prune a Forsythia that was cut back quite heavily last October and has not flowered this year because of this (I believe). Should I wait nowΒ until next spring to prune, or can I do it now and still expect it to flower next year?

Forsythia flowers on wood that matured the previous year.

If you prune now, you should still get some flowers next spring, but not so many as you would have done if it had been pruned immediately after flowering.

Alternatively, don't prune it at all now and wait for next season's flowers, where you should get a good display.

    Then, prune straight after flowering.
