What could I grow here ?

This patch is south-facing although partly shaded by adjacent shrubs, dry and poor soil.  It's tiny - roughly 3 feet by 2 and I want to add summer colour (not bothered about the other seasons !).

Any ideas please, or should I just put a wide bowl of geraniums or big blousy begonias in the space ?

thanks as always

I've seen a Cistus work very well in a similar spot, making a mound of colour in the summer.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Oh yes hadn't thought of that, they will tolerate dry-ish soil.  Thanks
