Could someone please advise what has decimated my runner beans please...that is 6 plants in the last two days that this has happened to..at first I thought it was rabbits but after covering the last plant it still got taken out....slugs?..any advice greatly appreciated.

I must add the whole lot has been taken out..no sign of leaves on the ground ?
If that was in my garden, I'd blame the squirrels. They've pulled out so many bulbs and tubers, and nipped the heads off so many tulips, peonies and other flowers I'm getting really sick of it. I haven't actually seen them do the latter, but they're definitely guilty of the former.
Aha LG the L...never thought of that I do have a few running around here but they're usually on the bird feeders...gonna have to keep my eyes open in future...so maybe gonna have to net them up for the new ones..thanks.
This is what they've done today to a peony I planted on Friday. They'd dug up the main tuber yesterday but the rest of the plant was still in the pot. I resettled the plant and this morning it was still where I'd put it. This afternoon:
Compost everywhere. They'd taken a flower and the tubers onto the table nearby and had a really good chew. I haven't found the rest of the plant. I had no idea they were so destructive - I knew they dug up bulbs (and boy have they done that) but all this pulling up and wrecking plants / biting off flower heads is a new one on me.
