Autumn fruiting Raspberry

Is it too late to plant this year to get fruit this autumn?

Cheers

Mine are so old Tom I can't remember! However this year I have moved about 4 and the growth is good so I can't see why they wouldn't fruit. Unlike the summer ones which fruit on last years growth, the autumn ones fruit on new growth

    i would do it

Very little to be lost by planting now IMOimage

I suspect you'd get a smaller, later harvest this year - but you'll almost certainly get something.

At the very least you'll have established plants ready for next year.

Excellent, thanks to you both! Will they need much support? Or will leaning against a sheltered fence be enough?

Ours are against a fence ... when they get tall and blow about in the wind we just thread a long string between two hooks fixed to the fence at either end of the row  of raspberries, to keep them from getting too unkempt.

Good luck with them - my bare root raspberries I planted in containers in Dec haven't shown any signs of growth at all ?.
