Lilac trees
I have a lilac tree in my garden, it is probably about forty years old. The front part of it has no leaves on the branches although the back part is fine and some blossoms are appearing. Is it ok to now saw all the branches off that appear to be dead. We have lived here for twenty five years and it is the first time this has happened.

I'd wait until after shortly after it's finished flowering before doing any major pruning.
Thank you very much I will do that.
